About Gate Cottage

The outstanding feature of this design is the chalet form, with its shallow-pitched elongated gable roof. In its form, this Cottage has no equivalent in the area.

Gate Cottage is a 2,487 square foot, 2-story, wood frame residential structure with a two car, 451 square foot, detached garage. It is sided with rose colored shiplap with green trim. The roof is black asphalt shingles.

Gate Cottage was built in 1915 and designed by architects William Scopes and Maurice Feustmann of Saranac Lake, NY. Current use is to house guests. The garage is used for storage. It is in good condition. It was originally constructed as a superintendent’s cottage.
